Task of the Day 10-27-2009

1. Create four accounts: AppleClass, Appletech1A, Appletech1B and Appletech1C (Group)

2. Create a document or two in each account. Copy a paragraph from a newspaper or any paragraph from legitimate source. Save your work. Use file name that bear your name and class: (name)TCH1

3. Give permissions to Appletech1A and Apple1techC for a read only.

4. While the permission for Appletech1B will be read and write. Then the AppleClass will have no access

5. Submit your created accounts and their permissions to the teacher for assessment.

Creating User Account

1. Change the password of the machine to: apple4iths

2. Research on creating an account in the Apple Training Materials.

2. Create four accounts: apple1, apple2, appletech1 (share), group account (appletech2)

3. Don’t enable parental control in these accounts.

4. Write observations about the creating accounts.

5. Submit it or email it to: appleosx09.iths@gmail.com

2. Reset the Password using the Mac OS X Installation DVD.

3. Change the password to: ithstch1

4. In the new password hint write: What is your school and class name.

5. Write a one or two paragraph observation in the activity.

6. Write a conclusion on how the system utilities will help us in trouble shooting installation.

4. In the new password hint write: What is your school and class program name?

5. Write a one or two paragraph observation in the activity.

6. Write a conclusion on how the system utilities will help us in trouble shooting installation.

Task. Check the knowledge base and the Apple Training materials for troubleshooting issues. Write possible solutions prescribed from the materials for each of the troubleshooting issues listed below. Read the Knowledge Base document: Trouble shooting Mac OS X Installation from CD or DVD.

Installation Troubleshooting

1. Installer cannot start up from the installation disc.

2. Installer cannot complete the computer check.

3. Installer cannot complete source disc check.

4. Installer cannot complete the destination volume check.

5. The installation process starts but does not complete and returns an error message.

6. Problems occur after installation completes

7. Installation is slow
